Okay, probably not perfect, but good enough.
Last week, I took Bear to see Sonic along with one of his friends from school (and his mother). We first sat in the back because I felt it was a easier exit, but we ended up moving closer to the front so the kids could see better. (Note for next time.)
It’s been a while since we’ve gone to the movies (last movie we saw in a theatre was Bohemian Rhapsody and that was just me and Maks), but it was Bear’s first time in a movie theatre with the whole experience. I think he was more excited about seeing it with his friend than the actual movie, but it was easy for him to understand.
Onto the movie itself…it was a great movie! The main theme was about friendship and family. I personally loved there was an IR couple (black woman, white man) as the main couple, so it was nice for Bear to see that on the screen.
I was a little skeptical of any live-action movies of comics and cartoons, but I really enjoyed this. It wasn’t cheesy or pointless, and it really felt like there was a good message about what friendship really means and having a sense of belonging.
It was also nice to see Jim Carrey back on the screen and he was excellent as the villain.
Overall, I do recommend it. It’s short enough to keep the kids’ attention (about 90 minutes) and it’s fun enough for adults to enjoy it. 5/5 stars.
